Development of eLearning Platform - ModelMaster

ModelMaster is an educational startup based in the USA dedicated to democratize financial e-learning. They focus on providing users with hands-on financial education through interactive lessons based on practical tasks. This platform helps users master financial modeling and management using intuitive learning tools designed to enhance knowledge and skills.

When ModelMaster first contacted ELITEX, they sought a reliable online learning platform development partner, and they found one. At this point, ModelMaster had a beta version of the product but required a completed product with enhanced design and functionality.

Before approaching ELITEX, ModelMaster had a precise vision of the project’s future. At the first stage of the project development, ModelMaster required the integration of an in-browser Excel emulator (we used elements from third-party software to make development more cost-effective), but the problem was that ModelMaster's beta platform was virtually incompatible with it. Besides this, the client wanted to modify the Excel simulator, tailoring it to the educational needs.

In addition to the Excel emulator, the key upgrades included an advanced course creation system, content management tools, and an intuitive user interface to facilitate a smooth learning journey.

The partnership between ELITEX and ModelMaster began in May 2020 and continued till the middle 2021. ELITEX contributed a complete development team consisting of a project manager, developers, and testing specialists. ModelMaster, in turn, provided flexibility regarding the tech stack used, allowing our team to select Node.js and React for the development of the e-learning platform.

Our process involved managing the full tech stack, from AWS to front-end development. Throughout the development process, we maintained open lines of communication with the client. The main communication channel was organized through bi-weekly sprints, during which we outlined the development progress and discussed the upcoming steps.

This was a de-facto Agile project management. Such an approach allowed us to involve the stakeholders’ feedback directly into our development pipeline, significantly contributing to the project’s overall success.

Although ModelMaster had a beta version of the platform that was somewhat functional, at some point, we decided to rewrite the product from scratch using a new tech stack and best coding practices.

The 18-month collaboration between ELITEX and ModelMaster has created a decent platform that enable interactive education, just as intented. The platform, designed to offer real-time task execution paired with theoretical learning, empowers users with immediate application of knowledge. Our choice of a robust tech stack, including Node.js and React, was an ideal choice for online learning platform development, as it facilitated features, such as an in-browser Excel emulator and other functionalities required for creating a comprehensive learning experience.
